Community Service:

Community service is an essential part of our student mission at FLIS. As part of the holistic education being promoted, we hope that all of our students can develop a sense of altruism, charity and compassion for others. At the same time we want to promoting proactive thinking and action based planning needed for our students to master skills for their future leadership roles. We want our students to understand the power of individuals and teams in the process of improving communities. It is because of this that we institute our community service system.

Governed through our GIA accreditation process, students who wish to receive a qualified graduation diploma must engage in a minimum of 20 hours/points of community service per year from grades 9 through 12, although all of our students are given opportunity to engage in community service at each grade level.

The process of regulating and reporting community service points is managed through the office of student affairs and the community service agenda is ultimately determined by the FLIS Student Government, although the final approval of community service completion must be applied directly through the FLIS academic office. Official reports, awards and certificates are issued directly through the office of the FLIS Academic Principal.

FLIS faculty and students regularly support many non-profit foundations and charitable organizations. As such, we are constantly working with our community at large to determine and deliver relevant projects. If you know of any area of need, please contact our student council representative so they can potentially add the project to their agenda.
