High School Prep Program (HSP):

 

For students who do not meet the GIA English level requirement upon application, we offer our unique HSP Program. The HSP program is an immersive English acquisition program designed to accelerate both social and academic English level achievement in our students so they may enter the GIA high school program quickly and access the structured content with success.

Each HSP student will be immersed in full day English instruction and will still be able to achieve limited high school credits as part of this program. The basic components of these courses follow a specific curriculum with a proven design from Pearson education group.

The main themes of study for each HSP student will include:

• English Listening and Speaking

• English Writing and Grammar

• English Content Reading and Comprehension

• English Vocabulary building and structure.

• Students also engage in basic classes in the Art, Music, Physical Education, and STEM courses.

• Full extracurricular programs designed for practical English use.

Student English levels will be assessed regularly using the Oxford Online English Assessment tool. Program placement is contingent upon the results of this testing.

Oxford English Assessment Scale: (based on CEFR)

• C2- Automatic acceptance to GIA High School Program.

• C1- Automatic acceptance to GIA High School Program.

• B2- Conditional acceptance to GIA High School Program.

• B1- Entry to HSP level 3

• A2- Entry to HSP level 2

• A1- Entry to HSP level 1

Students have a requirement to advance at least one level per semester.
